Hike Messenger Bags Investment from the Founders of Quora, WordPress and Others

Hike messenger, the internet based cross platform instant messaging service, has raised fund from Silicon Valley tech biggies including Adam D’Angelo (founder & CEO at Quora), Aditya Agarwal (Dropbox‘s Vice President), Matt Mullenweg (WordPress co-founder) and Ruchi Sanghvi (former Vice President, Operations, Dropbox).

This investment has been made in personal capacity by the aforementioned individuals, and the financial details of the round has not been disclosed by the company.

Commenting on the development, Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder and CEO, Hike Messenger, said, “It’s great to have the world’s top brains in tech share Hike’s vision; and not just entrust us with their investment, but more importantly, also advise us on our product and strategy. Each of the them brings with him/her a core area of expertise, which we at Hike find immensely useful as we aggressively grow in India.”

Launched in December 2012, Hike, has a userbase of 70 million and transacts over 30 billion messages per month. It has raised $86 million in funding from Tiger Global and Bharti Softbank till date.

The app is available on Android, iOS, Windows and Blackberry platforms. The messaging app has partnered with brands like PepsiCo, Amazon, Unilever, Zynga among others.
