Beginning their journey to digital excellence in April 2015, CodeYeti has risen out of obscurity in a short span of 14 months and is now at par with other competitors, being a vendor of choice for its mobile and web development services. Co-founders, Ashish Jindal and Puneet Gupta were working on an app-based product before starting CodeYeti. To help with the product and fasten the development, they decided to outsource some parts of the development, but the result wasn’t as they had expected. “They were not able to deliver on time and the product lacked quality”, says Ashish, explaining how the bad experience with outsourcing got them thinking about the problems it encased. When it came to outsourcing, they observed a general lack of confidence in terms of quality and reliability in their friend circle as well. Sensing this as a huge opportunity, they started CodeYeti.
Ashish and Puneet, both 27, were childhood friends from Bathinda, Punjab. Ashish is an IIT-D 2012 alumnus and Puneet graduated from Punjab Engineering College in 2011. After graduating, they went on to work with top companies like Amazon, BNP Paribas and Nomura. When the two friends decided to startup, they considered sectors like logistics and travel, before finalizing on Loqation, a neighbourhood based app. And eventually with CodeYeti, they sailed off to a journey to revolutionise the services sector for good. CodeYeti’s strong foundation has allowed for exponential growth and a good reputation in a very small time period.
Having worked with a lot of startups they understand the importance of designs, as simplistic and captivating designs are the first things users notice in a mobile application. They ensure best quality designs, which carry a unique blend of creativity and professionalism backed by best coding standards and reuseable & modular codes.
With data breaches becoming a common issue these days, CodeYeti acknowledges every aspect of security as a part of their development process. They use Amazon web services to host their server side APIs and ensure encryption by https/ssl and proguard to protect the source code of the application.
One of their clients, GreenPly Foundation, approached them seeking a solution around the concept on how to help & train carpenters via mobile app. They conceptualized & brainstormed with the clients on how to achieve the best possible solution. CodeYeti is currently working on to develop an android application for them.
Another client, Vivek Pandey, IITK alumnus, took help from CodeYeti for his bike-based taxi and delivery services startup, NOW. CodeYeti developed their entire tech platform including consumer apps, driver apps & admin dashboards. Just weeks after the complete development, NOW raised funding for its operations in Noida. CodeYeti also developed an android application for a loyalty-based discounts platform, Smartwards. It recently got acquired by Bengaluru-based cloud telephony firm Knowlarity Communications.
CodeYeti has a very strategic approach proving that they are here to stay. They follow two revenue generation models, a) fixed cost for entire project. b) time-based where they charge based on the time consumed per resource.
CodeYeti office has an open work environment and unlike other service companies, they have a very friendly culture with flat hierarchy structure. Employees can take a break and chill, play table tennis, cricket, chess or counter strike. In order to stay updated with the latest trends, CodeYeti encourages its employees to research about new technologies and conduct weekly seminars allowing employees to share their findings with each other.
The founders of CodeYeti measure their growth in terms of team size. With the current size being 50, in the next 6 months, the startup plans on increasing the team size to 100+. As a part of geographical expansion strategy, they will focus on penetrating international markets. As Chris Grosser puts it “Opportunities don’t happen. You create them”, Ashish and Puneet have a long way to go and they are pretty optimistic that CodeYeti will change the face of service sector in India.
